Refund Policy

At The Portuguese Bakery we try to do our best to accommodate reasonable situations, if you have ANY question or concern please email us at info@theportuguesebakery.com.


Once your order has been picked up by you or a designated party it is considered "Accepted". All products are the responsibility of the customer once it leaves our shop. Refunds requested due to decorating style, color shade or general decoration design will not be honored. We only give refunds in accordance with refund policies.

You may qualify for a store credit if the product is brought back to us and the quality, flavor or texture is determined not to meet our standards (Our items are tasted daily to insure highest possible quality). Quality determination is solely at the discretion of The Portuguese Bakery. Keep in mind variety in temperature and humidity may impact the flavor, overall design, or texture to some degree. Please understand we cannot control changes in texture or changes in color or shape due to weather conditions or packing and shipping guidelines.

Our process to produce our items are spread over a period of several days, recipe prep, mix, creation, bake , and packaging.
If you need to postpone your order for another date, we require at least one week notice. With less notice, we can reschedule your order (depending on availability) however you may incur an extra charge to re-bake.




Non-Perishable items cannot be returned if they are opened within 30 days of purchase date (No exceptions). Flavor and texture is subjective. We do not accept returns based on taste. We accept all unopened Non-perishable items. If you receive a damaged or defective non-perishable item, please contact customer service within 24 hours with the following information:
o   Order number for the item
o   Date of arrival
o   Condition of item at time of arrival with photographic proof
o   Detailed explanation of the issue
o   Whether you prefer a refund or replacement

Perishable items cannot be returned or refunded. Flavor and texture is subjective. We do not accept returns based on taste. If you receive a damaged or defective perishable item, please contact customer service within 24 hours with the following information:
o   Order number for the item
o   Date of arrival
o   Condition of item at time of arrival with photographic proof
o   Detailed explanation of the issue
o   Whether you prefer a refund or replacement

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a 5-7 business days.

Late or missing refunds (if applicable)
If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again.
Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

Exchanges (if applicable)
We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email and send your item to: 2082 El Camino Real. Santa Clara, CA 95050


Shipping
To return your product, you should mail your product to: 2082 El Camino Real. Santa Clara, CA 95050.
You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable.

Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary.
When the product is received, you will see a refund in 5-7 business days on your original payment method.

International Shipping
Portuguese Bakery ships worldwide!

Please note: International orders will not be shipped without a valid email address and phone number associated.
Portuguese Bakery International Shipping Policy dictates that any return/exchange shipping costs will ultimately be the customer’s responsibility in the event that an issue arises with the product. Portuguese Bakery inspects our products before shipping in order to be reasonably sure that what we ship is free from defects, though we recognize that this does not necessarily cover all eventualities. The Portuguese Bakery will still be honored for any product mistake in accordance with our standard return policies, with the exception that Portuguese Bakery is not able to bear the shipping/exchange costs associated with international returns or international warranty issues.

Please note that shipping internationally involves following the particular customs, internal revenue laws and procedures of the receiving country. Portuguese Bakery collects any applicable GST, VAT, duties and other international charges that are able to be identified up front, in order to expedite the shipment clearing Customs. Depending on the country of receipt, additional duties, taxes, licenses and/or fees may be required by the receiving country before the order is released to the customer. Shipping insurance is automatically applied to international orders, as the incidence of damage may be increased due to the extended shipping distances. Any extra fees will be applied to you that is needed to complete the order after a consultation should the need arise, and is calculated to allow for all of these variables stated above, including the cost of the shipping insurance.
The shipping cost to send to international countries may widely depending on the amount purchased and its destination. If your order requires more shipping boxes, an additional fee will be applied and a consultation with an international customer service representative will be required.

Because of our lengthy production process DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. If you cancel your order before we have a chance to deliver it to you, there is NO Refund. If you pre-paid in full, or placed a partial deposit, you will NOT get a refund if you cancel your order before we have a chance to deliver it to you.

If you come to our store for “pick up” and it is determined that you require a refund under refund policies, we will give you a refund (minus 25% handling/cancellation fee). This refund will be in place of a check (NO CASH or CREDIT refunds will be given) NOTE: If we give you a refund, you CANNOT keep the order. You only get the refund if you refuse to “accept”. We will NOT negotiate a partial refund if you keep the order. This is a “take it, or leave it” policy. If we deliver the order to you and and it is determined that you require a refund under refund policies, we will give you a refund (minus 25% handling/cancellation fee). NOTE: If we give you a refund, you CANNOT keep the order. You only get the refund if you do not “accept” the order. If you request a refund at time of delivery, you MUST give us back the complete Order. We will NOT negotiate a partial refund if you keep the order. This is a “take it, or leave it” policy. We are not responsible for any expense you may incur for replacing our order.
